This is a task to help students to collectively pool their knowledge.
1) Give each student a piece of A3 paper. They should write their name on it. 2) Ask them to write the title, 'Everything you ever wanted to know about storage devices and backing-up work'. 3) On the board, write some hints e.g. different storage devices, different storage technologies, cloud storage, how data can be lost, why backing-up data is important, the procedure for backing work up. 4) Explain that they have 3 minutes to start drafting up notes for an essay. 5) After 3 minutes, they will have to pass their paper on to someone else. Students will be able to add to the paper they were given, edit notes they don't agree with, add diagrams etc. 6) This can be repeated four or five times, until the teacher thinks they have a good summary of the key points. 7) Students then retrieve their A3 paper and make a neat copy of the work, either in a word processor or in FreeMind.
