Classifying hardware devices using QR codes
This task could be used to find out what students know, or to help students revise and understand key hardware terms. Students will need mobile phones with a QR reader app. Some students will need to work in pairs if they are without phones. You could set homework the previous week to download and use a QR reader onto their phones. 1) Print off the QR codes, cut them up and display them around the room. Click here for the codes. 2) Students should have an A4 piece of paper in landscape with six columns with these headings: Input devices 3) Get students to come up with the meanings of the above six headings. 4) Explain to students that there are 30 items in the room in the form of QR codes. Their job is to collect them all and then put each one into the correct category. 5) Once they have completed this task, they should identify three items in their columns that they aren't sure of, and then research them. They should be able to explain clearly to other students what each of the three items they have chosen is all about. E.g. What does it look like, what is it used for, how does it work. 6) Students should be able to clearly describe how storage devices differ from 'memory'. They should research this. |
